Lovely and interesting ski resort exactly on the French/Italian border. Cute little village with a nice atmosphere, bells ringing from the church and original old village architecture. Friendly and helpful locals. English widely spoken. Two excellent ski schools, better than in bigger resorts particularly for beginners/children/intermediates. Pretty ski area with lots of trees and unthreatening mountains with extremely wide open pistes that give early intermediate type skiers confidence. Only one hour and half from Turin by direct coach/bus (three hours by public transport). Very easy to ski to the Italian side, either over the top of the mountain (easy red) or by ski-walking the green that follows the road - lots of very pretty little pistes this side and several good Italian restaurants. Very few lift queues. Standard of skiing observed in many cases was surprisingly high - there is nothing really on piste for experts but off piste and through the trees, there are many possibilities, so probably attracting local, experienced skiers. Nice quality of snow, even at the end of March. A couple of little not very well stocked supermarkets - alternatively lots of little cafes, some offering takeaway, and a couple of very good bars with an element of old-fashioned apres ski (eg immediately after skiing starting around 6pm) live bands, etc. (la Graal). Worth taking a bus to Sestriere to take advantage of the one day lift pass extension to Milky Way or the fantastic resort of Serre Chevalier.
Wide, open pistes. Possibility of skiing in Sauze d’oulx, Sestriere, etc
Slow lifts, no technically challenging pistes

Good variety might be limited if an expert skier. But on saying this we did not have access to adjacent resort as italian resorts closed. Plenty for us, three intermediates for week. Generally lifts slow but open in April. Gives time to enjoy scenery. Was great for us .Night life very low key. Would return.
High alt allows april ski

Been coming here for 3 years, with a group of friends with kids all at various learning stages, and we love it. This is not an apres ski metropolis, but there are bars and restaurants that are getting busier all the time, but mostly quietened down by 22:00. The pistes are incredibly well maintained, and its a great place to come with the kids as it's of a size that is big enough to offer you enough options in terms of skiing, but the kids know there way around also.
Accessible to all areas, not crowded, great for begineers
Lifts a little slow . . not closer to my house

more snow and this place would be good.
normally not that busy
really slow to build the parks and bad pisteing.

A great village for families, largely unspoilt, with skiing on both sides of the valley and connections into Italy and the Milky Way. This is not 'posh' skiing, it is good, straightforward skiing in a generally undeveloped village (alhough some fantastic new accommodation has been added in a small satellite to the village) We have been going to Motgenevre for about 20 years, our children have grown up skiing on the slopes, and now our gandchildren are also enjoying coming to Grandma and Grandpa's appartment to enjoy the snow and mountains whilst they learn to ski - they are 6 and 3 and love Montgenevre!!
Good skiing on both sides of the valley with all runs coming back to the village. Friendly, comfortable bars and restaurants
No nightclubs for those who want to party into the small hours
Visited in March with family and friends of various standards, condition of slopes outstanding great variety for all levels of competence, masses of off-piste of mental boarders. Great area to board/ski and that the ski pass covers a day in the whole of the milky way (although hard going to get in all resorts!!). Food and beer costs as expected in Europe not overpriced like some French resorts (5 euros for a beer). Back to the resort - fantastic scenery and views, definately going back!!!!
Excellent maintained pistes and long red runs
Very limited apre-ski and nightlife
I was in Montgenevre over New Year and have skied there every year for a good ten years and watched as new lifts have sprouted up to make the huge mountain area even more accessible. The main ski area can get a little busy in peak season times but the lifts are extremely fast so you don't have to spend too much time queuing. If things do get a little crowded, the opposite side of the mountain is always quieter and a dream in fresh powder. Also, if you have included it on your lift pass, you can ski across to Claviere (Italy) very easily. The Colletto Verde black run into Italy has a very steep imposing start which is not for the faint hearted but it does level out into a fantastic long run. If you are traveling on a tight budget, take a packed lunch!!!!! The one and only mountain restaurant is a rip off! We always ski back down to resort and head to the 'Outside Burger Bar' where you can get a lovely, fresh burger for around 5 euros. Its very popular though so have an early or late lunch to avoid waiting too long. The Graal pub has a happy hour from 5-6pm if you fancy some apres ski. If you are up for a late night and a boogie, head to the Blue Night club but again, don't expect to come home with any money in your pockets as drinks cost a fortune!
Excellent snow and long runs
really expensive food
